Plastic bottle containing rice discovered in the mudflats of Yeongjong Island, Incheon… Police investigation begins

Plastic bottles containing rice were discovered in the mudflats of Yeongjong Island, Incheon, and the police began an investigation.

According to the Incheon Yeongjong Police Station on the 28th, the police and coast guard received reports from fishermen that plastic bottles containing rice were found in the mud flat under the Muui Bridge in Muui-dong, Yeongjong-gu around 11 p.m. the previous day.

The Coast Guard, which was dispatched to the scene, found and collected about 10 1.5L plastic bottles from the mud flat.

It was discovered that all of the plastic bottles contained rice, and one or two of them also contained US one dollar bills.

The police plan to conduct an investigation to identify the person who sprayed the plastic bottles and the location where they were sprayed, and also plan to check whether they attempted to send the plastic bottles to the north.

In the North Korean border area in Incheon, attempts were made to distribute plastic bottles containing rice to the north.

In June last year, six Americans were arrested by police while trying to distribute 1,300 plastic bottles containing rice, one-dollar bills, Bibles, etc. to the north for missionary purposes.

A police official said, “The location where the plastic bottles were sprayed has not yet been confirmed,” and “We plan to proceed with the investigation while keeping several possibilities open.”
