Choi Jong-tae takes office as the 12th director of the Gangneung Science and Industry Promotion Agency... 2 year term

Inaugurated on October 1st... 2 year term, industrial complex development expert

(Gangneung = Yonhap News) Reporter Yoo Hyeong-jae = Choi Jong-tae, currently a member of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's industrial complex plan deliberation committee, was appointed as the 12th president of the Gangneung Science and Industry Promotion Agency.

Chairman Kim Jung-nam presented a letter of appointment to new director Choi Jong-tae on the 29th.

The term of office is two years, from October 1 to September 30, 2028.

Director Choi Jong-tae is from Gangneung and earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Kyunghee University, a master's degree in business administration from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and a doctoral degree in industrial systems engineering from Kongju National University.

After joining the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, he is evaluated as an expert in industrial complex development, having held major positions including the Seoul Regional Headquarters, Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters, Incheon Regional Headquarters, Chungcheong Regional Headquarters, Planning and Coordination Office Director, and Management Support Office Director.

The new director was finally selected through an open recruitment, document and interview review, and deliberation by the Board of Directors by the Promotion Agency Director Recommendation Committee.

Chairman Kim Jung-nam asked, “Please gather staff capabilities and create concrete results for local industry development so that we can fulfill our role and responsibility as an innovative institution leading the future strategic industries of Gangneung City.”

With the inauguration of the new director, Gangneung City and the Gangneung Science and Industry Promotion Agency are expected to gain further momentum in promoting future industries, such as creating a natural products bio national industrial complex and an AI data center, fostering natural products bio and advanced semiconductor new material industries in connection with research and development special zones, and leapfrogging into an AI industrial city.
