About 200 security screening agents at Incheon International Airport are transferred every year... Urgent need for long-term employment measures

According to the office of People Power Party lawmaker Kim Mi-ae, a member of the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee of the National Assembly on the 9th, the number of job changers at Incheon Airport security screening agents was 197 in 2022, 249 in 2023, 245 in 2024, and 244 in 2025.

The turnover rate compared to current employees was 12.7% in 2022, 13.9% in 2023, 13.6% in 2024, and 12.4% in 2025, exceeding 12% for four consecutive years.

As of August this year, the number of job changers was 196 (9.7%), and the number is expected to exceed 200 by the end of the year.

The average security search time was 1 minute and 38 seconds in 2022, 4 minutes and 48 seconds in 2023, 3 minutes and 11 seconds in 2024, and 3 minutes and 30 seconds in 2025. This year, it was measured at 5 minutes and 55 seconds in February and 4 minutes and 4 seconds in June.

The longest security screening time monitored by Incheon International Airport Corporation showed an increase to 14 minutes and 8 seconds in 2022, 27 minutes and 16 seconds in 2024, and 55 minutes and 25 seconds in February of this year.

Rep. Kim said, “If a significant number of security screening personnel turnover continues every year, security problems may arise due to a gap in skilled manpower,” and added, “We need to examine the causes of turnover and working conditions to prepare measures for long-term service.”
