The 2026 Martyrs' Day commemoration event jointly sponsored by the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region's Veterans Affairs Department and the Autonomous Region's Caring for the Next Generation Working Committee was grandly held that day at the Martyrs' Memorial Square of the Autonomous Region's Martyrs Cemetery (Guangxi Revolution Memorial Hall).
About 700 people from the Department of Veterans Affairs of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and some government agencies and institutions, representatives of martyrs' families, and people from all walks of life participated in the event to deeply commemorate the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for national independence, people's liberation, and national prosperity.
In the Martyrs Cemetery, there are green pines and green cypresses, the majestic Martyrs Monument stands quietly, the public memorial square is solemn and solemn, and the "Martyrs Memorial Day Bugle" is loud and melodious, lingering over the square.
At around 9 a.m., the ceremony of laying flower baskets to the martyrs officially began. Accompanied by the majestic and passionate melody, all personnel sang the national anthem of the People's Republic of China in unison. After the national singing, everyone in the audience stood in silence to deeply remember the immortal achievements of the martyrs. After the silence, the Young Pioneers sang the Chinese Young Pioneers team song. Their clear and high-spirited singing showed the spirit of young people in the new era who remember the revolutionary history, inherit the red gene, and bravely shoulder their mission.
Afterwards, the solemn and melodious "Flower Presentation Song" played slowly. The etiquette team members carried the flower basket and placed it neatly in front of the base of the monument with steady steps. Huang Weiping, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the Department of Veterans Affairs of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and other comrades stepped forward to arrange the flower basket ribbons to pay high respect to the martyrs.
Finally, all the personnel paid homage to the monument and the Wall of Fame in turn, and presented flowers and message cards to the martyrs to express their infinite sorrow for the martyrs.
In order to deepen ideological and political education, two themed exhibitions are set up next to the monument, which is a vivid practice of "ideological and political lessons under the monument". The paintings and calligraphy works of young people are on display. The majority of young people express their grief with pen and ink, convey their respect with calligraphy and painting, recall the revolutionary history, commemorate the deeds of heroes and martyrs, and inherit the red spirit with vivid art forms; the "Red Memory of Heroes Monument" is simultaneously launched to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army's Long March and the exhibition of the heroic deeds of the Xiangjiang Battle. Participants carefully listened to the stories of heroes and martyrs, carefully viewed historical pictures, relived the tragic war years of the Battle of Xiangjiang, and understood the heroic spirit of the Red Army soldiers who fought with their flesh and blood to stop the enemy, lived in the face of death, and built an immortal monument with huge sacrifices.
A letter collection and posting activity called "Write a Letter to Them 90 Years Ago" was also held on site, inviting all walks of life to have a dialogue across time and space with the martyrs in the form of letters, expressing their thoughts and respects.
Participants said that they will always remember the history of the revolution, cherish the achievements of the heroes, carry forward the spirit of the Long March, and transform their respect for the heroes into a powerful motivation to forge ahead on a new journey and build a new era. They will bravely shoulder the mission and forge ahead on the Long March in the new era, and contribute to writing a chapter of Chinese-style modernization in Guangxi.
