如今走過54年，信義樓雖陸續辦過耐震補強、防水隔熱以及各項修繕工程，但因建物老舊和長期使用，已難以滿足現代教育需求。所以經整體評估，決定拆除重建，讓老校園也因此獲得新風貌。

計畫新建的信義樓是地上5層、地下1層，每層7間教室、共有35間教室的教學大樓，配置有停車空間；未來將做美術、特殊教育以及藝能等多元專科教學空間使用。

竹北國中辦學獲家長肯定，已連4年增班，目前全校共32班。教育局評估周邊都市發展和重劃區出現，未來學生人數仍將穩定上升。校內近年陸續增設圖書館、竹北社區大學、學生輔導諮商中心以及職業試探中心等，因此預期重建後的信義樓將更能因應未來的教育發展。
