Chiayi police arrest fraudulent rider and collector, seize NT$260,000 in stolen money

The night before last, the Chiayi City police tracked down two members of a fraud syndicate who were hiding in the grass, shouting that there were snakes and rats in the grass. The two people later walked out of the grass on their own and were arrested, and seized 260,000 yuan in stolen money. After an investigation last night, the Chiayi District Prosecutor's Office found that the two defendants were involved in a serious crime of aggravated fraud and were in danger of fleeing or colluding. They applied to the Chiayi District Court for a detention ban and were approved.

When officers from the North Town Police Station of the Chiayi City First Branch were on patrol the night before, they found a car idling and acting suspiciously next to the parking lot at the bottom of Jiazhu Road. When they went to check, the car reversed and refused to be inspected. Two men in the car got out and fled into the grass.

The police notified the police of support, and director Chen Shengjie led dozens of police officers to the scene to start the search. The police investigation found that the two men were fraudulent riders and collectors, and followed the clues to find out that the victim surnamed Li had indeed been defrauded.

The Chiayi District Prosecutor's Office appeals to the public not to participate in fraud by pretending to be drivers. The prosecutors will continue to vigorously crack down on fraud crimes and safeguard the safety of people's property.
