Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment announces special management measures for household waste during the Chuseok holiday

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Jaeyoung Lee = The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment announced on the 13th that special household waste management measures will be implemented from the 14th to the 30th to celebrate the Chuseok holiday.

During this holiday season, domestic waste disposal situation teams and mobile cleaning teams will be operated in local governments across the country. Additional cleaning personnel and garbage collection boxes will be deployed in multi-use facilities such as traditional markets, terminals, and rest areas.

Measures to reduce the amount of waste are also being implemented.

First, from the 2nd to the 23rd, intensive inspections will be conducted at large supermarkets to see whether excessive packaging and separate discharge of packaging materials are indicated.

The Korea Environment Corporation will be holding a 'Public Food Waste Reduction Challenge' from the 17th to the 30th to reduce food waste. How to participate in the challenge will be announced on the website (www.keco.or.kr).

The Ministry of Climate Change announced that it will ensure that there are no problems with waste disposal by strengthening the inspection of recycling market trends around the Chuseok holiday.
