The Ministry of Agriculture has commissioned an expert group to compile pet care teaching materials. The first phase will focus on bulk pets such as dogs and cats, and is expected to be launched as soon as the next year. It will also cooperate with the Ministry of Labor to promote the "Pet Care Technician" certificate.

The number of domestic fur babies has exceeded that of real children. However, the quality of teaching materials in the market is uneven. In order to further improve pet care and other majors and provide systematic knowledge, the Ministry of Agriculture commissioned this year to The "China Animal Husbandry Society", composed of experts and scholars from relevant departments, will form a committee to compile professional textbooks on academic knowledge such as pet care and physiological nutrition. It is expected to be published as soon as 2028 and used by domestic high school, technical vocational and college courses with animal biology, veterinary and other related departments.

Chen Zhongxing, deputy director of the Department of Animal Health of the Ministry of Agriculture, explained that the Department of Animal Health has launched a guide to the care and maintenance of dogs and cats in the past. The guide tends to tell owners how to get along with dogs and cats and other pets, basic care, or basic knowledge such as which foods are edible for dogs and cats and other pets, animal protection laws and other basic knowledge. The pet care and other teaching materials commissioned by expert groups are different from the guide provided to owners. They will be non-popular professional reference books. Chen Zhongxing further explained that our country stipulates that if you want to engage in specific pet industries such as pet breeding, trading, and foster care, you must complete 200 hours of professional courses and obtain a completion certificate. There are currently pet grooming technicians and other certificates issued by the Ministry of Labor in China. Chen Zhongxing said that with the development of consistent teaching materials, he also plans to promote the "pet care technician" with the Ministry of Labor. In the future, the current pet business operators will also be replaced by "pet care technician" certificates. As long as you complete 200 hours of courses, you can obtain a certificate. This system allows the quality of professionals in the pet industry to be controlled by the state and further improves service quality. However, the relevant details of pet care technicians need to be negotiated with the Ministry of Labor, and the implementation time has not yet been determined.
