An old man in his 70s surnamed Chen died after being chased and hit by a BMW while riding an electric bicycle.

An old man in his 70s surnamed Chen was riding an electric bicycle northbound on Xinle Road in Nanshi Nan District yesterday evening (13th) when he was hit by a BMW sedan traveling in the same direction at high speed. Chen was hit and bounced onto the BMW, hitting the front windshield and falling to the ground. When the fire department ambulance arrived, Chen showed no signs of life and was still dead after being sent to the hospital. The man surnamed Liu, who was driving the BMW, tested negative for alcohol and tested negative for drugs. It is suspected that the dark night, fast speed and failure to pay attention to the situation in front of the car caused the accident.

The 25-year-old man surnamed Liu who was driving the BMW and his friend in the car, a 17-year-old female passenger, both suffered scratches and contusions, and both were sent to hospital by ambulance for treatment.

At around 9 o'clock in the evening on the 13th, the Nanshi Fire Department received a report from the public that a car accident occurred near Xinle Road in Anping Industrial Zone in Zhanzhan District. The ambulance arrived and found three injured people at the scene. An old man in his 70s surnamed Chen showed no signs of life. He was sent by ambulance to Yongkang Chimei Hospital for rescue. Unfortunately, he still died of his injuries. The occurrence of the car accident, the exact cause of the accident, and the attribution of responsibility will be further investigated and clarified by the Sixth Precinct of the Nan City Police within its jurisdiction.
