Goyang City holds town hall meeting with taxis and police to shorten commute by 30 minutes

On the 28th, the city held a 'Town Hall Meeting on Improving Traffic Environment to Shorten Commute by 30 Minutes' in the city hall conference room with about 30 people in attendance, including taxi drivers, Goyang City Parking and Traffic Department, Traffic Policy Department, and police station traffic safety review officers.

This town hall meeting was prepared to explore specific action plans to ‘reduce commuting time by more than 30 minutes’, which is the main goal of the 9th popularly elected transportation policy, and to improve inconveniences occurring in transportation sites.

It was carried out in a 'one-stop feedback' method in which city and police officials immediately reviewed on-site opinions suggested by taxi drivers who know the road scene better than anyone else.

Based on the results of the analysis of on-site reports received in advance, we intensively discussed tasks that have a high level of public awareness, such as plans to reorganize the signaling system and linkage in habitually congested areas, improve the alignment of dangerous roads, reorganize lanes, and expand safety facilities.

Attendees present specific measures such as adjusting lanes at intersections and improving signals in bottleneck sections through free speech on site, and the city follows a 'fast-track' procedure to immediately implement urgent items, such as requesting that the proposal be submitted as a top priority to the traffic safety review committee of the jurisdictional police station.

Goyang Mayor Min Kyung-seon emphasized, "To achieve the goal of reducing commuting time by 30 minutes, we will quickly find and solve even the smallest inconveniences on site and return free time to citizens."
