Kuomintang Kaohsiung mayoral candidate Ke Zhien went to Qishan yesterday (26th) to participate in the "2026 Summer Festival Fresh Market" event. Before leaving, his staff asked if he wanted to eat (Qishan) bananas? However, she replied that she wanted to eat "Pingtung bananas", and netizens said, "Go back to Pingtung and vote!" In response, Huang Jingya, a Kaohsiung City Council candidate of the Democratic Progressive Party, ridiculed Ke Zhien, saying that "the heart is not in Kaohsiung and lacks local identity!"

Huang Jingya pointed out that Qishan bananas are Kaohsiung’s most prominent agricultural brand and cultural asset in Taiwan, and the city government team and local farmers’ associations are working together to expand sales to domestic and overseas markets. Since Ke Zhien came to participate in the agricultural product promotion event, he should use his policy beef to win the approval of the villagers. However, he found out that the Qishan Farmers Association and the villagers supported Lai Ruilong, who continued the Chen Qimai municipal government. He felt that he was being left out as an "outsider", and when he left the venue, he blurted out that he wanted to eat bananas from neighboring counties.
