Kuomintang mayoral candidate Ke Zhien and Legislative Yuan Economic Committee convener Hong Yuxiang jointly surveyed the Qian Town fishing port today (24th) and put forward a number of opinions. Gao City Ocean Director Shi Qingfeng said that relevant issues have been specifically resolved after a meeting between the Secretary-General of the Executive Yuan, the Minister of Agriculture, the Fisheries Administration and other central units on September 17. He said that in response to the reasonable opinions put forward by all walks of life, the central and local governments will continue to improve.

Shi Qingfeng pointed out that the planning of the multi-functional aquatic products transportation and marketing center is to improve the operating environment of the traditional fish market and enhance food safety and cold chain quality. In response to the operating cost issue that vendors are most concerned about, the central government has clearly announced that fees will be waived during the first two years of trial operation. After two years, fees will be charged by the Kaohsiung District Fisheries Association based on actual management needs, and in principle, the fees will not be higher than the current fee level. He said that the current willingness of stallholders to enter is also quite clear. According to the Kaohsiung District Fishermen's Association's willingness survey, the willingness to enter has reached 93.3%.

Regarding the crew club, Shi Qingfeng said that the club mainly serves foreign crew members during the return period of offshore fishing vessels to Hong Kong, providing accommodation, toilets, rest, Wi-Fi, religious space and emergency resettlement and other functions. At present, the accommodation fee for foreign crew members has been reduced to 100 yuan per person per day, and is borne by the shipowner. The fishermen themselves do not need to pay for accommodation. Water storage tanks and ventilation equipment have also been added to the washroom section, and fresh water and diversion arrangements have been made through shipowners and ocean-going associations to improve demand during peak periods.

As for market drainage issues, the Fisheries Department has also stated that rainwater and sewage from the Multi-functional Aquatic Products Transportation and Marketing Center and the Crew Club have been integrated into the drainage system. The previous temporary accumulation of water was caused by sudden heavy rainfall and high tide. Afterwards, more pumping units were added, and dredging and water collection well improvements were continued.

Shi Qingfeng emphasized that Qianzhen Fishing Port is one of the most important offshore fishery bases in the country, and the purpose of related construction is to simultaneously improve fishermen’s operating environment, food safety, and living conditions of foreign crew members.
