The Democratic Progressive Party's regular action meeting moved to Taoyuan City today (23rd). President Lai Ching-te, who is also the chairman of the Democratic Progressive Party, promoted Taoyuan mayor candidate Huang Shijie during the meeting, and said that the current Taoyuan Mayor Zhang Shanzheng is a talented person in national affairs, but there are three main points that make him unfit to serve as Taoyuan mayor. Huang Shijie said that Lai Qingde's description of him as "acclimated" and "overqualified" is a relatively restrained statement. Zhang Shanzheng's dedication to municipal administration is limited. "No matter how good his ability is or how highly educated he is, it is of no use."

Party insiders analyzed that Zhang Shanzheng was not highly satisfied with his governance, but his relative hatred value was also low. While Lai Qingde praised him for solving the problem of the Tainan earthquake in the past, he still listed three reasons for his incompetence, including overqualification, old age, and non-local background. Relatively speaking, these three points are Huang Shijie's advantages. Lai Qingde did not say bad words, but still encouraged Huang De's team to continue working hard and catch up.

Huang Shijie was interviewed after the meeting and said that he believed Lai Qingde had a profound view of things, which was supported by objective data, which was similar to his recent experience at the local grassroots level. What citizens usually feel most concerned about are the activity centers, roads, traffic, parking and other issues around their homes. Many grassroots people and district chiefs have opinions on relevant municipal governments.

Huang Shijie further criticized that Taoyuan Municipal Government has lacked innovative breakthroughs in recent years, and Zhang Shanzheng's governance style is to do nothing well and make mistakes. In the past six months, due to the pressure faced by local governments, there was a better chance of meeting Zhang Shanzheng, but in the past, "it was actually very difficult for you to meet him."

Regarding Lai Qingde's description of Zhang Shanzheng as a talented person in state affairs, Huang Shijie said that he believed Lai Qingde sincerely felt this way because the two had interacted in the past when they served in the central and local governments. However, the nature of work between the central government and local governments is very different. The local government's business is cumbersome and focuses on execution, and it is necessary to delve into the details of different places. Zhang Shanzheng's expertise and personality may not be the most suitable for this role.

Huang Shijie also said calmly that the outside world is not trying to demonize Zhang Shanzheng, and no one thinks he is a bad person, but for Taoyuan citizens, what they are really concerned about is urban progress and quality of life. The mayor's professional background is one thing. What is more important is his ability to accept public opinion and promote municipal administration. If he does not have the heart to devote himself to local governance, "no matter how capable or highly educated you are, it is of no use."

When asked about the gap in recent polls, Huang Shijie said that there are still many voters who have not expressed their opinions, and the polls are floating and changing, so at this stage they are mainly used for observation of trends and reference. He said the team would continue to work hard to win support from voters.

As for the layout of the subsequent election campaign, Huang Shijie said that each district cannot be partial and must still make comprehensive efforts. It is not just one candidate, but the entire team works together.
