(Naju = Yonhap News) Reporter Jeong Daum = Over the past four years, two ammunition loss accidents have occurred at the Naju Police Station in Jeollanam-do, resulting in the loss of 50 blank shells and one live ammunition.

According to data on the loss of firearms and live ammunition received from the National Police Agency by the office of People Power Party lawmaker Park Sang-woong, a member of the National Assembly Public Administration and Security Committee, on the 26th, two incidents of loss of ammunition occurred at the Naju Police Station, in 2022 and in July of this year.

On July 16th, while checking the quantity of ammunition, it was confirmed that one box containing 50 blank rounds was missing.

On October 11, 2022, it was discovered that a police officer on duty had lost one live ammunition.

The live ammunition and blank ammunition lost on two occasions have not been recovered to date, and the circumstances of their leakage to the outside have not been confirmed.

The police imposed a light disciplinary action on the person in charge at the time, holding them responsible for negligent management, and are investigating the exact circumstances of the loss.

In addition, from 2017 until recently, there were no cases of loss or unauthorized removal of firearms or live ammunition from other police stations in the Gwangju, Jeollanam-do region.
