International student killed in accident in Nagata Ward, Kobe; friend also killed

A residential area located at the foot of the mountain in Nagata Ward, Kobe.

Late one night in June, Farudin Rahman (24), an international student from Bangladesh, was on his way home from his part-time job when he saw a strange sight near his home.

A light truck was trying to go down a narrow, steep slope when it was blocked by a utility pole and became stranded.

The driver asked for help, and Rahaman called a friend from the same town he lives with.

"Wait, I'll be right away."

My friend rushed over from home immediately without asking me the details of the situation.

The date had just changed to June 23rd.

The two men stood on a steep slope and pushed a light truck from below. The driver put the car in reverse gear and stepped on the accelerator.

After the light truck backed up a little, its tires spun and it began to slide down the hill, engulfing the two people.

Rahaman fell immediately and hit his head, but survived with no injuries.

The light truck hit the friend, continued down the hill, and came to a stop after colliding with the gatepost of a house along the road.

My friend was crushed in the chest and died.
