IHC commissioned by the National Police Agency determined 5,259 cases of illegal information related to online casinos in the first half of the year

The Internet Hotline Center (IHC), which is commissioned by the National Police Agency to collect harmful information on the Internet, has determined that 5,259 reports related to online casino sites and advertisements were ``illegal information'' among the reports it received in the first half of this year (January to June).

IHC has asked providers and others to delete the site, and of these, 20 foreign sites and approximately 900 domestic and foreign advertisements have been deleted.

Regarding online casinos, where addiction has become a social problem, the revised Basic Act on Countermeasures against Gambling Addiction was enacted in September last year, regulating the opening of online casino sites and advertising on SNS.

The IHC guidelines have also newly classified online casino sites and posts promoting them as ``recommended'' as illegal information.

Of the 5,259 pieces of illegal information, 4,981 were of providers or site administrators located outside the country, of which 304 were sites and 4,677 were advertisements.

As a result of asking providers and others to take action on 4,715 pieces of illegal information, 751 pieces of information, including 20 sites, were deleted or could no longer be accessed from within Japan.

In addition, 149 advertisements from domestic providers were also deleted.
