Railway communication with the city of Sumy has been stopped

The railway connection with the city of Sumy in north-eastern Ukraine has been stopped, trains will go only to the Konotop station in the west of the Sumy region, the Ukrainian TV channel "Public" reported, citing a comment from the Ukrainian Railways company.

The city of Konotop, Sumy region, is located 128 kilometers west of the regional center. There are railway tracks and a highway passing through it, connecting Sumy with the neighboring Chernihiv region, located to the west of Sumy.

“In the Sumy region, trains will temporarily run to and from the Konotop station,” says a message published in the Telegram channel of the Public.

The material does not specify whether the restriction will affect the movement of trains from the southern and eastern directions, whose routes did not previously pass through Konotop, located far from their routes. As Ukrainian railway workers told the Public, the local authorities of the Sumy region intend to organize a bus service between Sumy and Konotop to compensate for the lack of trains.
