Su Qiaohui experienced a one-day opera apprenticeship and invited the public to enjoy the Mid-Autumn Festival night of opera

The Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching. Su Qiaohui, candidate for mayor of New Taipei City of the Democratic Progressive Party, went to visit the Tang Meiyun Gezai Opera Troupe and experience the "One-day Gezai Opera Apprenticeship", and asked for help from national treasure actors Tang Meiyun and Xu Xiunian. Su Qiaohui said that she grew up watching Gezi opera performed by two national treasure-level actors, and she has always believed that traditional opera is an important medium for the inheritance of Taiwan's local culture. Through the experience, she has a better understanding of the difficulty of "one minute on stage, ten years off stage" for traditional opera actors. She also invites everyone to come to the "Mid-Autumn Opera Night" at Sanchong Sunflower Plaza on Sunday, September 27, from 7 to 9 pm to watch "Dragon and Phoenix" performed by Tang Meiyun Gezi Opera Troupe.

Su Qiaohui expressed her gratitude to Xu Xiunian, Tang Meiyun and other art and literary workers for their long-term commitment to the inheritance of traditional opera. In recent years, more and more young generations have begun to see the charm of traditional opera. Theater troupes have also used innovative and diverse methods to attract audiences of all ages. From developing new scripts and creating short plays to adding interactive forms of opera, they can become a bridge between traditional opera and the new generation. In recent years, traditional opera has also begun to cooperate with different performance groups such as children's theater troupes to allow children to understand local culture from an early age in a more diverse way.

"Inheritance must have an audience," Su Qiaohui said. Cultural inheritance cannot only be preserved, but more importantly, make the next generation willing to watch and participate. In the future, she will continue to use policies and various activities to allow Taiwan's diverse and rich local culture to be seen, preserved, and passed on. She hopes that more children will become interested in "watching theater".

Tang Meiyun said that there are actually many younger generations in the troupe. Many of them have joined the troupe since they were studying in related majors and participated in script creation, prop production and stage performances. For performers, the most important thing is to "continue to have a stage." Therefore, he hopes that through the establishment of the troupe, young people who are willing to invest in the traditional opera industry can have stable jobs and performance opportunities, so that traditional opera can truly become a career that can be invested in the long term.

Su Qiaohui's competition pointed out that Su Qiaohui's journey from learning to sing Qi Zi Tune to actually experiencing the water sleeve figure was "troublesome" and she was frequently rescued by teachers. She couldn't help but laugh and said, "This is more difficult than playing pickleball." There was constant laughter at the scene.
