The second season of "Hundred Operas Entering Anhui and Shining Stars in Hefei" opera-themed event was launched with 14 Plum Blossom Award winners performing on the same stage

China News Service, Hefei, September 23 (Jiang Wanqi) The second season of the opera-themed event "Baixi Enters Anhui·Stars in Hefei" was launched on the evening of the 22nd at Anhui Baixi City. 14 Chinese Drama Plum Blossom Award winners including Wang Yushu and Han Zaifen performed on the same stage.

This event plans to carry out 200 performances to benefit the people, covering 15 opera types such as Peking Opera and Qin Opera. The performance volume and richness of the repertoire have been fully upgraded compared with the first season, especially the addition of Sichuan Opera, Shao Opera, puppet show and other new types of opera.

In terms of repertoire arrangement, there are both classic traditional plays such as Peking Opera "The Phoenix Returns to the Nest" and Kun Opera "New Words of the World", as well as new creations such as the Cantonese opera "The Legend of White Snake" and the Yue Opera "Girls' Class" to meet the needs of audiences of different ages and aesthetic preferences.

The first season of the opera theme activity "Hundred Operas Entering Anhui and Shining Star in Hefei" was launched in September 2025, boosting consumption to exceed 400 million yuan. Chen Yongquan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Chinese Dramatists Association, said that the first season of the event attracted nearly 70,000 audiences to the theater to watch performances, of which more than 70% were young audiences. "Watching a play has been extended to 'touring a city' and has become a phenomenal cultural platform."

On this basis, the scale of performances in the second season has been greatly expanded. The performance venues cover five major theaters: Anhui Grand Theatre, Anhui Opera City, Hefei Grand Theatre, Baohe Phoenix Theater and Yaohai Grand Theatre. It also extends to scenic spots, schools and other places to carry out Anhui local opera performances.

This series of activities will last from late September to January next year. While retaining high-quality performances on weekends, it will open up regular performance schedules on weekdays, link up with scenic spots, accommodation and online platforms to launch exclusive discounts for viewing performances. During the event, supporting activities such as opera guided tours, public welfare classes, celebrity guided lectures, and opera film screenings will also be carried out. (over)
