The Ministry of Finance will begin paying salaries in digital rubles from October

The leadership of the Ministry of Finance will begin to receive salaries in digital rubles in October. The first deputy head of the department, Irina Okladnikova, spoke about this, an interview with whom was published by Izvestia.

It is noted that Anton Siluanov’s deputies, as well as department directors, will switch to income in digital rubles, and the transition itself, according to Okladnikova, will be “only voluntary.”

Speaking about the expansion of the use of this form of Russian currency that began in September, she noted that the Ministry of Finance “has already carried out several contracts in digital rubles.” The Deputy Minister also indicated that in the situation with the transfer of budget payments into digital rubles, the main thing is to “maintain voluntariness and not complicate the procedures,” which implies both increased efficiency for the state and the convenience of recipients, including individuals.

In Russia, on September 1, a phased mass launch of the digital ruble began, the use of which has become available to every citizen. In particular, they will be able to pay for purchases in large retail chains. According to the head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, in the first ten days of the month, 87 thousand accounts were opened and more than 50 thousand transactions were carried out.
