Brazilian presidential election poll: Flavio's support equals Lula's

The Brazilian presidential election is five days away. The latest polls indicate that the support of Flavio Bolsonaro, son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, has caught up with current President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and the two are almost tied in poll numbers.

Flavio, 45, is the eldest son of former President Jair Bolsonaro and currently serves as a senator in Congress.

"Reuters" reported that the latest poll showed that in a simulation of the first round of voting in the general election, current President Lula received 45.3% of voters' support, followed by Flavio with 42.2%, and Renan Santos in third with 5.2%.

According to Brazilian election regulations, if no candidate receives more than 50% of the votes in the first round, the top two vote-getters will advance to the second round.

Polls show that in the simulated second round of the runoff, Flavio's support increased to 47.7%, slightly ahead of Lula's 47.6%.

This poll was jointly released by Bloomberg polling agency AtlasIntel. The survey period was from September 23 to 28, with a total of 5,005 respondents.
