Washington District Court rules out Trump's name on Kennedy Center façade

The Washington District Court has banned the addition of references to current President Donald Trump on the façade of the capital's main theater and concert venue, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, according to a decision reviewed by RIA Novosti.

“Until the court decides, the council may not implement parts of its resolution that violate what is stated in the decision,” the Washington District Court ruled.

It is noted that the Kennedy Center board, despite the previous court decision, adopted a resolution recognizing Trump's contributions by adding an inscription to the building and renaming the square in front of the theater in honor of the current president. This time, the court emphasized that the earlier decision must be respected, and called attempts to return the mention of Trump to the façade through a decision of the board of directors a “verbal balancing act.”

“Defendants must give the court at least 60 days advance written notice of any action to display an inscription or acknowledgment of President Trump, the Kennedy Center Foundation, or other fundraising initiatives,” the decision states.
