Blogger Pavel Syutkin sentenced to six years in prison in the case of fake news about the army

The Zyuzinsky District Court of Moscow found 61-year-old blogger Pavel Syutkin (listed as terrorists and extremists by Rosfinmonitoring) guilty of disseminating false information about the Russian army. Lenta.ru was informed about this by the press service of the courts and the capital’s prosecutor’s office.

The defendant was sentenced to 6 years in prison with deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to website administration for a period of 4 years.

The court found that Syutkin, motivated by political hatred, posted publications in his channel in 2022 containing false information about the actions of the Russian Armed Forces during a special military operation.

The prosecutor asked to sentence the blogger, called a historian of Russian cuisine, to eight years in prison.

The reason for bringing Syutkin to criminal liability was his post on the Telegram channel about the events in Bucha. After the start of the SVO, he took an anti-Russian position and spoke negatively about the victim of the terrorist attack, war correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky.
