The number of applications to agricultural universities increased by a third

The number of applications for admission to agricultural universities over the past year has increased by a third, to 740 thousand; applicants are attracted by high salaries in the industry and new technologies. Kommersant writes about this with reference to data from the Ministry of Agriculture.

Svetlana Sonina, an expert on personnel policy at the Potato Union of Russia, confirmed that in many ways young people are guided by wages that have increased in recent years. At many enterprises, trainees can count on 60-80 thousand rubles at the start, that is, this is already the level of the basic salary, which can quickly increase.

As stated in the material, over the year the income of specialists in the agro-industrial complex increased by 14 percent. Thus, an agronomist receives from 80 thousand to 300 thousand rubles, an agronomist-pig breeder - from 150 thousand, and a livestock specialist - up to 500 thousand rubles.

Agronomist and agricultural specialist Vladimir Vikulov noted that it is impossible to receive such money right away, but after five to seven years of practical activity, a salary of 300 thousand rubles per month does not look incredible.

At the same time, experts say, the demand for workers in the agricultural sector is only growing, and the shortage of people in the agricultural industry is estimated at hundreds of thousands of people.
