After being closed for 6 years, the "Dahu Scenic Area" in Yuanshan Township, Yilan County finally reopened today! A large number of tourists flooded into the park early in the morning. SUP paddles, canoes and water bikes shuttled around the quiet lake. There were bursts of music and applause from the lakeside market and stage, showing a new waterfront style. With the theme of "Watermarked Lake", the Yilan County Government opened a new tourism chapter for Yuanshan by combining the three main axes of "lakeside roaming, water exploration, and local sharing".

Today's opening ceremony was held lively surrounded by lakes and mountains. The water experience immediately became the focus of the event. People put on life jackets and paddled to the lake to appreciate the lake and mountains from different perspectives. The opening activities planned for today and tomorrow include SUP stand-up paddle boarding, yoga, canoeing and water biking experiences, and are expected to attract more than 200 people.

The lakeshore is equally exciting. The "Lakeshore Market" gathers local agricultural products, youth innovations and products selected by indigenous people, and combines stamp redemption activities. The stage area features performances by local opera troupes and street performers, as well as eco-bottle DIY and "Great Lakes Walk" walking tasks, allowing families to deeply enjoy their time by the lake.

Since the Great Lakes Scenic Area was established in 1972, it has long been restricted by private land and litigation issues, preventing it from being fully developed. In 2019, the county government took a critical step and obtained the consent of the Yilan Management Office of the Farmland and Water Conservancy Department and the township government. It actively sought central subsidies and invested a total of approximately 92.9 million yuan in the fourth phase of the project by the end of 2014. This year, it also invested 11.55 million yuan in facility optimization, building simple temporary parking lots and container public toilets, greatly upgrading the overall park environment.

Acting County Magistrate Lin Maosheng said that the opening of Dahu Park is not only a new leisure destination, but will also serve as a tourism hub in the future, connecting Yuanshan's ecology, agricultural tourism and tourism, and driving local economic development.
