National Chengchi University establishes the Industry-Academic Cooperation Excellence Award for the first time to honor three award-winning professors in the humanities and social sciences

Industry-university cooperation is no longer just about science, technology and patents. Leveraging its strengths in the humanities and social sciences, National Chengchi University established the "Industry-Academic Cooperation Excellence Award" for the first time. Three award-winning teachers researched across religious cultural assets, blockchain financial technology and ESG sustainable governance. National Chengchi University also cooperated with Singapore technology companies to focus on AI, three-dimensional geographical scenes and landmark recognition algorithms, trying to make humanities and social sciences a new driving force for innovation in the technology industry.

Li Caiyan, president of National Chengchi University, said that in addition to creating knowledge and cultivating talents, modern universities are more importantly about implementing academic achievements into society to benefit industry and the public. NCTU specializes in the humanities and social sciences. In recent years, it has gradually developed an industry-university cooperation model that is different from traditional science and technology patents. Therefore, in addition to the Teaching and Research Excellence Award, it has added the Industry-Academic Cooperation Merit Award and the USR Award to encourage teachers to transform research into social practice.

The first Industry-Academic Cooperation Excellence Award was awarded to three teachers. Lin Zhenyuan, assistant professor of the Institute of Religion, has long been studying Taoist rituals and folk beliefs, promoting the preservation and local application of religious cultural assets; Chen Gong, professor of the Department of Information Management, has devoted himself to research on blockchain, smart contracts and financial technology architecture to promote the implementation of financial innovation and information and communication technology; Yan Minren, professor of the School of Education, focuses on ESG sustainable governance, cross-domain innovative education and green supply chain to assist industry, government and academia in promoting transformation.

Li Zhehong, general manager of Singapore Space Big Data Technology, said that the company started from the cultivation of political science universities and has now expanded into global aviation simulation technology and smart airport systems. Because international aviation training has higher requirements for scene simulation and accuracy, we hope to combine the expertise of National Chengchi University teachers to jointly develop a new generation of three-dimensional geographical scene and landmark recognition algorithms.

Li Zhehong also believes that if AI wants to be closer to human nature, it cannot only rely on technology. Religion, philosophy and humanistic thinking also play an important role. The energy of humanities and social sciences at National Chengchi University is expected to form new cross-domain cooperation with the development of AI.

The National Chengchi University Industry and Innovation Center stated that in the future, it will introduce more companies to carry out industry-university cooperation with teachers on campus, and assist in applying for industry-university R&D programs of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the National Science Council; in the new semester, it will also provide comprehensive industry-university and intellectual property legal consultation, with professional lawyers providing one-on-one services to assist teachers in further integrating research results with industry.
