Chinese officials unhappy with coverage of Xi Jinping's visit to the US due to Trump's media ban

Chinese officials were unhappy with the way the United States covered Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Washington.

Trump's ban on three news media outlets, including CNN, disrupted months of planning for Xi Jinping's state visit and angered U.S. and Chinese officials.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Advisor Wu Xinbo expressed regret over the lack of coverage of the summit for US audiences.

MOSCOW, September 26 - RIA Novosti. Chinese officials were unhappy with the way the US covered Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Washington amid US President Donald Trump's conflict with the media, CNN reported, citing informed sources.

CNN previously accused the White House of not allowing its journalists to attend the ceremony of Chinese President Xi Jinping's arrival in Washington. However, Trump said after the event that CNN and MSNOW themselves refused coverage.

"Trump's ban on three news media outlets, including CNN, disrupted months of careful planning for Xi Jinping's state visit, angering both U.S. and Chinese officials over limited coverage of the summit," the network said in a statement.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Advisor Wu Xinbo expressed regret to CNN about the lack of coverage of the summit for the US audience. According to him, greater distribution of materials "could help improve the atmosphere in US-China relations."
