China News Service, Guangzhou, September 12 (Reporter Xu Qingqing) According to news from the Guangzhou Municipal Market Supervision Bureau on the 12th, the Intellectual Property Working Group Office of the Guangzhou High-Quality Manufacturing Development Leading Group, in conjunction with Yuexiu District, recently organized a centralized destruction event for infringing, counterfeit and shoddy goods in 2026.

It is understood that 7 tons of counterfeit and shoddy goods were destroyed at the scene. The value of the goods involved exceeded 1.5 million yuan, and the categories covered clothing, bags, auto parts, cosmetics, etc. All confiscated goods will be disposed of harmlessly to prevent problematic goods from returning to the market.

According to the bureau, since 2026, Guangzhou has focused on key business districts, continued to carry out in-depth special rectification of infringement and counterfeiting, and coordinated and promoted the governance of the Guangzhou Railway Station West Road business district, achieving phased results. In the first half of the year, Guangzhou settled 745 patent administrative enforcement cases; settled 515 trademark administrative penalty cases with a fine of 9.4032 million yuan; and settled 2 geographical indication cases with a fine of 3,800 yuan.

At present, infringement and counterfeiting are showing new trends in covert, cross-regional production and sale of counterfeit goods, such as "sample viewing at stalls, private sales in private rooms, online traffic diversion, and off-site delivery."

The bureau stated that it will maintain a strict and high-pressure posture and focus on three aspects: first, deepening the connection between executions and digging into the illegal chain; second, linking the public security, postal services, streets and other parties to consolidate the main responsibilities of market operators and mailing companies; third, strengthening the publicity of intellectual property laws, guiding the transformation and upgrading of professional markets, cultivating independent brands, and building a co-governance pattern of corporate self-discipline, government supervision, and social supervision.
