An 81-year-old pensioner from Moscow became a victim of scammers and lost more than 23.4 million rubles.

The woman received a call from supposedly representatives of law enforcement agencies and false specialists from Rosfinmonitoring, who convinced her to transfer all her savings for supposed collection.

The damage caused to the victim exceeded 23.4 million rubles, and the identification of those involved in the fraud is under control at the Nagatinsk Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office.

MOSCOW, September 26 - RIA Novosti. Fraudsters defrauded an 81-year-old pensioner out of 23.4 million rubles in Moscow, the capital’s prosecutor’s office reported.

The department said that the 81-year-old Muscovite received a message from an unknown person inviting her to join the general chat of the building’s residents to participate in the meeting. Immediately after this, an alleged representative of law enforcement called her and said that a power of attorney had been issued on her behalf and they were trying to withdraw money from her accounts.

Afterwards, the pensioner was immediately switched to a false specialist from Rosfinmonitoring, who convinced the woman of the need to urgently transfer for supposed collection all the savings that were at home and in bank accounts.

Being under the control of telephone scammers, the woman followed all their instructions for more than a month. She withdrew her savings from her accounts and transferred them to couriers who told her code words, receiving in return supposedly bank documents confirming the receipt of money.

“The total damage caused to the victim exceeded 23.4 million rubles,” the report says.
