Russia calls on the US to lift the embargo on Cuba and lift trade restrictions

Russia calls on the United States to lift the naval blockade of Cuba, lift all restrictions on trade with the island and remove the country from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

“We reaffirm our solidarity with the Cuban people and government and urge the lifting of the naval blockade of Liberty Island, the lifting of all restrictions on trade with Cuba, and the removal of the country from the list of state sponsors of terrorism that has long become odious,” Lavrov said at the UN General Assembly.

Cuba today is subject to unprecedented pressure from its northern neighbor, and the humanitarian situation on the island is dire, the minister noted.
