Wu Derong: A tropical disturbance is brewing in the South China Sea, which will affect eastern Taiwan from Saturday and head toward Vietnam.

Wu Derong, an adjunct associate professor of the Department of Atmospheric Science of National Central University, pointed out that today and tomorrow (9th and 10th) the atmosphere will be stable, with hot days and slightly cool mornings and evenings. From Friday (11th), water vapor will increase, and it will turn rainy on the east side and the eastern half of Taipei. From Saturday (12th), a disturbance in the South China Sea will brew, heading towards Vietnam, and further observation is needed.

Wu Derong said in the Meteorological Application Promotion Foundation's "Leaking Classroom" column today that the latest (ECMWF) model simulation (at 20:00 on the 8th) shows that today and tomorrow there will be northeasterly winds, not much moisture, and a relatively stable atmosphere. The windward side will be cloudy and sometimes sunny, and the leeward side will be sunny and cloudy. There will be occasional sporadic rainfall on the north coast and northern mountainous areas, and there will also be local brief rainfall in the eastern half and some mountainous areas. From Saturday to next Tuesday (15th), a tropical disturbance is brewing in the South China Sea. The winds near Taiwan will turn easterly, and the moisture will gradually increase on the east side. There will be local brief showers on the east side and the eastern half of Taipei. The western half will be sunny and cloudy, and there will be local rainfall in the mountainous areas in the afternoon. Wu Derong added that the latest model simulations from various countries show that tropical disturbances are brewing in the South China Sea starting from Saturday and are generally heading towards Vietnam.
