The "2026 New Taipei City North Coast International Kite Festival" will be held at Shimen Baisha Bay from 10 am to 5 pm on the 19th. This year, with the theme of "Looking for the Dragon", various giant dragon-shaped kites and various Q-version dinosaur kites will be flown into the sky. The blue sky and coast transformed into a fantasy "Aerial Dinosaur Paradise", inviting the public to follow the dragon's footprints. The opening ceremony also featured the "Breaking the Dragon's Shell to Find the Dragon", in which the giant dragon egg's shell was broken to symbolize the dragon's awakening, kicking off the annual kite event.
The organizer stated that the kite performance is coordinated by the Asia International Kite Federation and invites international teams from Italy, Brazil, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and other professional kite teams from all over Taiwan to communicate with each other. This year’s event will also integrate sustainability, diversity, inclusion and gender equality into the planning. The "Colorful Land of Wind" is used to create a wind-driven art landscape around the turf and wooden boardwalk next to the Baishawan Visitor Center. In the afternoon, the stage area arranges gender equality theater, parent-child circus, Hakka culture, music, aboriginal culture, acrobatics and other programs, which are non-stop exciting from the air to the ground.

There is a parent-child DIY activity on painted kites on site, one session each from 11:00 to 12:00 and one session from 14:30 to 15:30, with 50 people per session. From 15:00 to 16:00, there is a flying experience for the public, with professional kite teachers leading children of all ages to get to know and operate kites up close. In addition, at least 25 stalls of Shimen agricultural specialties and cultural and creative markets are planned to present local delicacies and agricultural specialties, and a reservation-only eco-tour for 30 people is launched to connect the Kite Festival, Fuji Fishing Port and Chusunkou Farm, allowing tourists to deeply experience the landscape, ecology and local culture of the north coast.
People can take public transportation. The event plans to provide free shuttle services to and from Baisha Bay from Mangrove MRT station. Mangrove to Baishawan is from 8 am to 14:00, and Baishawan to Mangrove is from 14:00 to 18:00, with a departure time of about 30 minutes. There are also roving connections in the area connecting Baishawan, Fuji Fishing Port, Laomei Kite Club and Wedding Plaza. The schedule and route will be adjusted flexibly based on the traffic flow and crowd flow on that day. The public is welcome to come to Shimen Baisha Bay on September 19 to watch and play kites, visit the market, and travel along the north coast, and together we can complete this year's most imaginative "Dragon Hunting".
