The expansion project of the Hengqin Port Travel Inspection Hall has been completed and 52 new inspection channels will be opened on September 30.

The reporter learned from the Hengqin Border Inspection Station of the Zhuhai General Border Inspection Station that the passenger inspection channel expansion project in the Hengqin Port Travel Inspection Hall has been successfully completed, and the 52 new inspection channels will be fully opened for trial operation at 10:00 on September 30. After opening, the customs clearance efficiency of Hengqin Port is expected to increase by about 65%, making the flow of personnel between Qin and Macao more efficient and convenient.

It is understood that the additional construction project will be launched on March 2, 2026, and will be constructed in stages and by area. Among them, the number of manual inspection channels from Hengqin to Macao has been increased from 6 to 10, and the number of cooperative inspection fast lanes has been increased from 24 to 47; the number of manual inspection lanes from Macau to Hengqin has been increased from 7 to 9, and the number of cooperative inspection fast lanes has been increased from 24 to 47. After the expansion, the Hengqin Port entry-exit travel inspection hall has a total of 113 inspection channels.

In order to ensure the smooth opening of the new channel, the Hengqin Border Inspection Station and the Macau Public Security Police have jointly carried out 5 rounds of full-process customs clearance tests since August 28, with a total of about 30,000 people participating in the comprehensive verification of channel equipment operation, system joint debugging, personnel organization and peak passenger flow diversion. The 46 newly built cooperation express lanes all have the "face-swiping" intelligent customs clearance function. After multiple rounds of full-process testing in the early stage, the channel equipment is stable, the system is running normally, and the conditions are ready for activation. After being put into use, the average waiting time for passengers during peak hours will be significantly shortened, and customs clearance efficiency is expected to increase by about 65%.

Thanks to the implementation of convenient policies such as "One Visa, Multiple Entries" and "Qin'ao Tour Group", the passenger flow at Hengqin Port continues to increase. Hengqin Port data shows that the total number of inbound and outbound passengers at Hengqin Port exceeded 30 million for the first time in 2025. So far in 2026, the average daily passenger flow has exceeded 100,000, a year-on-year increase of 27.5%. With the opening of the new channel, customs clearance pressure during peak hours will be effectively alleviated.
