The share of representatives of the global South at the Valdai Discussion Club meeting has increased

Experts from Western countries are again participating in the meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club, but the share of representatives from the global South has become larger, said Andrei Bystritsky, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for Development and Support of the Club.

"Of course, the proportion of representatives from the global South has increased. But I would like to point out that we now have participants from France, England and the United States," he told reporters ahead of the opening of the club's annual meeting.

According to Bystritsky, the representation of world regions at the meeting has become more balanced.

“Representatives from Western Europe and the Western world have not gone anywhere, but at the same time people from the global South have been added,” he emphasized.

The XXIII meeting of the Valdai International Discussion Club will be held in the Moscow region from October 28 to October 1. It will bring together 120 participants from 40 countries. The main topic of the meeting is “Responsibility for the future: limits of the possible or possibilities without limits?”

On the first day, the annual Valdai report “Don’t panic: the state and responsibility for the future” will be presented. In the future, there will be thematic sessions, open discussions and meetings with representatives of the Russian authorities.
