The Egyptian Interior Ministry reveals the truth about an old video of the death of a defendant in Matrouh

(CNN) - On Saturday evening, the Egyptian Ministry of Interior revealed the truth about an old video clip that was circulated, in which a woman claimed that security forces arrested her son, and he died inside a police station in Matrouh Governorate, northern Egypt.

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior said in a post on its official account on the “X” platform, previously Twitter: “A security source confirmed that the video clip that was circulated on a number of pages affiliated with the terrorist Brotherhood group abroad on social networking sites, and which included a woman’s claim that the security services had unlawfully arrested her son, and that he died inside a police station in Matrouh, is old, and had previously been circulated through the same pages affiliated with the terrorist group in 2022.”

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior added: “A statement was published on the Ministry’s official page clarifying the truth about the incident at that time, which is that the aforementioned is a criminal element, previously accused in a number of cases, and was imprisoned by a decision from the Public Prosecution in connection with a theft case. As soon as he felt unwell, he was transferred to a hospital to receive the necessary treatment, but he died, and the medical report stated that he died as a result of a sharp decline in the withdrawal of narcotic substances.”

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior confirmed that this indicates “the bankruptcy of the terrorist group,” and its recall of old facts, distorting them, and rebroadcasting them, as part of its desperate attempts to create confusion among public opinion, which is aware of its sinful plans, and legal measures are being taken against the promoters of these allegations.
