Davi Alcolumbre's conduct in the Daniel Vorcaro scandal

It was taking time for Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP) to join the dance of Daniel Vorcaro's influences. You don't get in because you're friends with the swindler — it could happen to anyone. He fell into scandal due to his actions as president of the Senate.

The messages published by Veja magazine say a lot about Alcolumbre's passive-aggressive conduct during the crisis affecting the three Powers.

For example, they provide Minister Cristiano Zanin with evidence that he claimed was non-existent when denying Senator Alessandro Vieira's (MDB-SE) request for the Federal Supreme Court to approve the installation of a CPI to investigate the Master case.

Zanin asked for proof of omission, as if silence in the face of an application with signatures and a fact determined in accordance with the rules did not prove deliberate negligence.

The expressions of "love", "gratitude" and vows of eternal fraternity between Alcolumbre and Vorcaro illuminate the secrecy imposed on information about visits by characters in the case to the Senate and statements by the president of the House on the only two occasions in which he spoke on the matter.

At first, he said he didn't have to "find anything" about the shock to the Republic. In the second and final moment before announcing "measures" against the messengers, he went to the stand to threaten to speak some truths, without saying about what or about whom.

Acts of intimidation that in normal times would cause at least surprise coming from the head of a Power that would have reason and sensitivity in dealing with a situation of unique gravity. But, as we know, we don't live in normal times and the follies have been dissolved in a pile of daily nonsense.
