Teenager reports attacks by military police during approach

The 15-year-old teenager stated that he still bears marks from the alleged attacks. With his identity preserved, he reported that he was with a friend on a city block when he was approached by the police.

"First they started punching me in the ribs, in the stomach, then burning them with a blowtorch. Then they started to hang me to make me pass out. There was no way to ask for help because they were hanging me, so I couldn't even speak properly", said the teenager.

According to the young man's report, he and his friend were sitting in the court's bleachers when the military approached. The police allegedly stated that the place was used for drug sales and asked the teenagers to unlock their cell phones. After the refusal, the attacks would have started.

"Then they came down, started approaching, saw that there was nothing wrong and said that this was a point of sale, that we were selling drugs here. They asked where the drugs were, they told me to unlock my cell phone. I said that it wasn't a point of sale, that there were no drugs and that I wasn't going to unlock my cell phone, because they can't do that. Then they started attacking me. Ah, I felt oppressed, right?", he stated.

"Inside the house, in the backyard, there were three more police officers looking for something wrong. There were three more police officers outside. When I went up, there was a female police officer on the street, along with the car that was parked in front of my house. I even asked them what had happened, no one answered me. Then I went into the block, where I saw more than 30 military police officers, all in uniform too. And at the end of the block there was my son and his friend", reported the woman, who had the identity preserved.

In a statement, the Military Police reported that they approached two teenagers in a place known for incidents related to the illicit trade of narcotics. According to the corporation, personal searches were carried out, but no illicit material was found. The PM also reported that it carried out additional investigations on a property, with authorization from the owner, and that nothing irregular was found.

According to the corporation, the mother of one of the teenagers was on the court, following the completion of the approach and the release of the two young people. Later, the Military Police were called to the municipal hospital, where the teenagers reported having been victims of aggression during the police action.

During the recording of the incident, one of the teenagers was apprehended and his father was arrested for contempt, according to the PM. The corporation also stated that it initiated an administrative procedure to investigate all the circumstances of the police actions.

"But there was no disrespect, at any time. There was no contempt. We were just extremely unresponsive and without action, because he didn't want to file a police report. I want justice", he stated.

The family of the other teenager involved in the case preferred not to be interviewed. The Guardianship Council reported that it provided guidance to the mother of one of the young people and forwarded the information to the Public Prosecutor's Office for information and the adoption of appropriate measures.
