Civil Police find bones that could be that of a woman who has been missing since 2018 in Cerro Azul

The Civil Police of Paraná found, on Friday (25), a skeleton that could be that of Fernanda da Costa Gouveia, considered missing since March 2018.

The body was found on a property in the rural area of Cerro Azul, in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba, after a turnaround in the investigations.

The main suspect for committing the crime is Fernanda's ex-partner, whose name was not disclosed.

In 2018, at the time of her disappearance, witnesses reported to the police that Fernanda had gone to Curitiba and did not return to Cerro Azul.

Now, upon hearing new witnesses, the police claim that the investigations showed that Fernanda was murdered by her ex-partner in front of her children, and the case began to be treated as femicide.

With the new elements, the police requested the temporary arrest of the suspect for the crime. He was already detained in Piraquara for another homicide, committed in Paranaguá, on the coast of Paraná, in 2010.

"The perpetrator has a very violent and very cold profile. There is already a homicide from 2010, in Matinhos, and it was a very violent homicide, he stabbed the victim [do Litoral] 40 times in the back", revealed the delegate responsible for the case, Gabriel Girardi.

According to Girardi, the suspect of stabbing his partner to death was interviewed again by the police and did not confess to the crime, but pointed out the place where Fernanda's body was buried, close to where the couple lived.

According to the delegate, with the location of the body, it will be subjected to tests to confirm the victim's identification and, subsequently, released so that the family can carry out the funeral ceremonies.
