Gyeonggi Province Governor Choo Mi-ae's remarks lead to internal criticism within the Democratic Party.

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Park Gyeong-joon = On the 14th, voices of criticism were raised one after another from the mainstream Democratic Party of Korea against Gyeonggi Province Governor Choo Mi-ae, who poured out resolute remarks to President Lee Jae-myung, urging a firm response to insurrectionists and others in relation to prosecution reform.

At a time when the administration was struggling with falling approval ratings, there were criticisms that the remarks were inciting internal division, and bitter calls for him to concentrate on his job as governor.

On this day, Representative Kim Min-seok appeared on the Democratic Party's official YouTube channel 'Democratic Party TV' and pointed out, "There is a high possibility that people will not think that this is a remark made by a senior member of the Democratic Party."

Representative Kim also said, “I think people would be suspicious if it was a remark made by a responsible politician and governor of the Democratic Party,” and “I think Governor Chu himself needs to explain why he said that.”

Rep. Song Young-gil also appeared on BBS radio's 'Jeong Hye-seung's Morning Journal' and criticized, "It may be true that Governor Chu has focused on prosecution reform, but I wish he would have been more faithful to his work as Gyeonggi Province Governor."

On the other hand, there is also an atmosphere of interpreting Governor Chu's remarks as a kind of 'self-politics'.

In an interview with KBS Radio's 'Blitzkrieg Current Affairs', Rep. Kim Eui-gyeom said, "I can guess why (Governor Chu) says that, but isn't the current situation a bit difficult?" He emphasized, "The only person who can solve all these problems is President Lee."

Rep. Hwang Myeong-seon, who is classified as a strong pro-Myung (pro-Lee Jae-myung) faction, reacted most angrily.

In a post posted on Facebook, Rep. Hwang claimed, "Governor Chu's remarks went far beyond the line of loyal criticism that can be made by the head of a metropolitan organization belonging to the Democratic Party," and "he poured out harsh words toward our president that would have been reserved for Yoon Seok-yeol."

Rep. Hwang pointed out, “If you look at the level, timing, and method of the remarks, you have no choice but to accept them as a provocation aimed at shaking up the president and expanding his political position.”

On the other hand, Han Min-soo, a member of the non-mainstream pro-Qing Cheong faction, expressed a different voice at the on-site Supreme Council meeting held at the Gangwon Provincial Party of the Democratic Party in Chuncheon that day.

One Supreme Council member said, “It is time to check whether the prosecution reform has been progressing properly and is progressing properly, and whether the judicial reform, media reform, and people’s livelihood reform are progressing in the direction and speed we want.”

There was also an interpretation within the party that such remarks were in agreement with Governor Chu's argument that emphasized strong prosecution reform.
