Statement from Minister Tekin regarding the school attack in Manisa

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin made a statement regarding the school attack in Manisa in which 11 students were injured.

"Very comprehensive measures were taken in schools." Tekin said, H.O. who carried out the attack. Reminding that the attacker named committed the incident with a gun he took from home, he said, "Just like there is a warning such as 'Keep medicines out of reach of children,' these guns should be out of reach of children." he said.

Minister Tekin said, "This attack should not be read solely through school security, security, etc."

Noting that there are various clues in the social media platform correspondence of the suspect who carried out the attack in Turgutlu, Tekin said, "Why does a child make a profile picture of an attacker in a school attack in the USA on his profile? A parent should follow and see this." he said.

“OUR GUIDE TEACHERS WILL DO THE NECESSARY THINGS”

Explaining that they have been working on this issue with guidance counselors since April 15, Tekin said, "My request from the parents is that when they see such a difficult situation, they should share it with our guidance counselors. Our teachers will do the necessary things for these children." he said.

WHAT ARE THE PHYSICAL PRECAUTIONS TAKEN IN SCHOOLS?

Explaining that they created a parameter list by evaluating the socio-economic conditions and physical positions of all schools in Türkiye, Tekin said, "We categorized each of our schools according to their conditions." he said.

Tekin gave the following information about the study:

"- Connections have been made in each of our schools, from the indoor camera system to the cameras around the building. We have initiated a series of measures for each school, such as turnstiles, face recognition systems in some of our schools, hand detectors for officials, and emergency buttons.

- Depending on the condition of our building, from raising the garden walls to schools where we need to put turnstiles on their doors. "All of them are measures we took in line with the findings of the security forces."
