According to the statement made by the Ministry; In line with the Turkish Century Education Model, studies on the Determination, Development and Monitoring of Students' Vocabulary Project, which was implemented with the aim of monitoring students' language development with scientific data, determining their vocabulary according to their age and grade levels, supporting their correct and effective use of Turkish, and revealing data regarding their education processes with scientific methods, continue.
Within the scope of the project carried out under the coordination of the Board of Education and Discipline, vocabulary elements such as words, terms, proverbs, idioms, phrases, abbreviations and proper names in textbooks, course materials and activity books are determined and recorded together with their context of use. The data obtained as a result of these studies will form the basis of scientific studies to determine the target vocabulary appropriate for the age and grade levels of the students.
THE FIRST PRODUCT OF THE PROJECT IS 'MEB VOCABULARY INFORMATION NETWORK'
Data obtained by analyzing the educational contents encountered by students; The MEB Vocabulary Information Network, which is a special-purpose student corpus, is determined and classified with the support of teachers' field expertise and artificial intelligence systems. The first product of the project, the Knowledge Network, is aimed to enable the examination of educational contents in terms of vocabulary and the evidence-based monitoring of students' language development.
Through the system, it is possible to examine the meaning of a word, as well as how many times it is used in textbooks and in how many different sources, its distribution according to class and course levels, and its context of use; It is planned to perform different analyzes such as vocabulary diversity, word frequency, word types, class and field-specific vocabulary based on the data obtained. Teachers, faculty members, experts and software developers work together in the project, which consists of a total of 18 work packages.
THE STUDIES CONDUCTED WERE PRESENTED TO MINISTER TEKİN
The studies carried out within the scope of the Identification, Development and Monitoring of Students' Vocabulary Project and the latest developments regarding the preparations for the MEB Vocabulary Information Network were presented to the Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin by the project team. In the presentation; Information was given about the purpose of the project, its scope, the work processes carried out, the current situation, the completed work and the software developed by the software developer teachers within the scope of the project. The structure of the MEB Vocabulary Information Network, its areas of use and its contributions to educational processes were also explained in detail. In the presentation, it was emphasized that the MEB Vocabulary Information Network is not just a database, and that it was designed as a comprehensive decision support tool that will enable teachers, textbook authors, researchers and Ministry units to examine educational contents in terms of vocabulary.
