Brazil wins bronze medals at the Paralympic World Cup in judo and triathlon

Brazil won bronze medals this Sunday (27) at the Judo Paralympic World Cup, in Tbilisi, Georgia, and the triathlon Paralympic World Cup, in Pontevedra, Spain.

In judo, the competitions were by teams, and Brazilian judokas climbed to third place on the podium in both suits.

Among women, the team was formed by Rebeca Silva, Meg Emmerich, Larissa Silva and Brenda Freitas. The Brazilians scored 4-1 in Kazakhstan, which only scored in the category in which Brazil had no representative. The gold went to China, and the silver to the team of neutral athletes.

The men beat France in the tiebreaker, after an initial 3-3 draw. Deyverson de Souza won the decisive fight. The other Brazilian athletes were Arthur Silva, Denis Rosa, Felipe Amorim and Thiego Marques. Georgia took the gold, and silver again went to the team made up of neutral athletes.

With the day's results, Brazil finished the competition in second place in the overall medal table, with 12 podiums, including three gold, five silver and four bronze. China came first, with fewer medals in total (nine), but with four golds.

Triathlon

Still in European lands, the Paralympic Triathlon World Cup also had Brazilian brilliance. The relay race in Pontevedra, Spain, ended with bronze for the Brazilian team, in addition to gold for the United States and silver for Australia.

With this, the country ended its participation with two podiums, as Erica Rodrigues, from the PTS5 class (physical-motor disabilities and cerebral palsy), had won silver on Friday.

In Sunday's race, Brazil was represented by Jéssica Ferreira, from the PTWC class (wheelchair users), Ruiter Silva, from the PTS5 class, as well as Erica Rodrigues.
