The mountain camping base in Dajian Village, Mojie Township, Yuzhou City, at the eastern foot of Funiu Mountain in Henan Province, is still green and green. This Internet celebrity village with pleasant scenery today was once a well-known "coal mining village".

Dajian Village is located in the coal-rich area of ​​Henan. In the 1980s and 1990s, Dajian Village "depended on mining" and its ecology was once destroyed.

"In the early years, the soot in the village was covered with dust, which polluted the rivers and barren the mountains." Chen Haichang, secretary of the Party Committee of Dajian Village, said that after learning from the painful experience, Dajian Village launched a comprehensive ecological restoration and barren mountain greening project, and large and small coal mines were closed one after another. Over the past ten years, the village has converted more than 1,600 acres of farmland into forests and greened more than 3,500 acres of barren hills.

Nowadays, the mountains are green again, the rivers are clear, and the Permian ancient plant fossils 250 million years ago are intact here. The unique geological resources have earned Dajian Village the reputation of the "Kingdom of Ancient Plant Fossils." At present, Dajian Village is a national 3A-level scenic spot.

Ecological restoration has allowed Dajian Village to maintain its background of green waters and green mountains, and thus start from the sweet potato industry and the cultivation of Chinese medicinal materials to activate the "enriching the people" of characteristic industries.

In 2021, Dajian Village introduced leading enterprises, built a modern sweet potato processing base, and developed more than 20 products such as hot and sour noodles and fresh noodles. Chen Haichang said that sales will exceed 6.6 million yuan (RMB, the same below) in 2025, and the "company + base + farmers" model will be used to connect farmers and guide farmers, radiating and driving 13,000 acres of sweet potato planting in the surrounding area.

"I didn't expect that villagers could also become shareholders." Villager Hou Fengying calculated an account: land rent, labor income, and company dividends. The "three incomes" have increased several times compared to growing sweet potatoes in the past.

After the sweet potato industry has gained a foothold, Dajian Village relies on the industrial accumulation of Yuzhou City's "Chinese Medicine Capital" to join hands with a Beijing company to plan and build an authentic Chinese herbal medicine planting base of 1,200 acres in 2024, promoting the digitalization, standardization, and scale of planting, and opening up new income-increasing channels for villagers.

With the industry booming, Dajian Village's development vision has expanded to integrate culture and tourism. In 2025, the village invested 30 million yuan to build Yujian Campground, where car camping, bonfire parties, grass skiing and riding tours...for a time, the silent valley became lively.

Zhang Yage, general manager of Yuzhou Yujian Camping Ecological Garden Co., Ltd., told reporters that since the beginning of this year, the camp has received more than 40,000 tourists, with total revenue exceeding one million yuan.

Nowadays, Dajian Village has become an Internet celebrity village, regularly holding the "Dajian Weekend Cultural Fair" and launching live broadcasts to bring goods. Local specialty agricultural products and beautiful scenery attract more people's attention.
