The Central Bureau of Investigation and German services have broken up a group suspected of stealing cattle in Germany

The Central Police Investigation Bureau, together with the German side, dismantled a group suspected of stealing cattle in Germany. The investigation into this case was supervised by the Lower Silesian Branch of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław.

Cattle theft suspects detained in Poland and Germany

After establishing the identity of people suspected of involvement in cattle theft, the make of the vehicle that could have been used by criminals to transport stolen animals was also established. The services detained two men, aged 41 and 46. Both are Polish citizens.

According to the Central Bureau of Investigation, one of them was detained in the Lubuskie Voivodeship, while the other one was captured by German services in Germany. The man who was caught by uniformed officers in the Lublin region was taken to the Branch Department of the National Prosecutor's Office in Wrocław. He heard allegations regarding, among others, participation in an organized criminal group and burglary of cattle in Germany. By the court's decision, the man was placed in custody.

The second detainee is currently in custody in Germany and is waiting for the completion of the procedure related to the execution of the European Arrest Warrant. "After being brought to Poland, the man will be charged with leading and participating in an organized criminal group and burglary of cattle in Germany," informs the Central Bureau of Investigation.

Officers of the Central Police Investigation Bureau discovered a total of 159 cattle of various meat breeds. Veterinary specialists also worked on site and took samples from the animals. These will now be identified and compared with data contained in databases related to cattle theft locations in Germany.

Will there be further arrests?

As the Central Bureau of Investigation emphasizes, this will allow us to determine whether the seized animals originate from crimes covered by the proceedings.

The services point out that more people may be detained in this case. Investigators are conducting activities aimed at identifying other people who may be involved in cattle thefts and explaining the full scope of the group's activities.
