Russia has completed work to increase capacity on the Ulan-Ude - Naushki section

The Russian side has completed measures to increase the volume of traffic in the section from Ulan-Ude to Naushki station.

Russia has already spent about $40 million for these purposes.

The Chinese side is also increasing production capacity and plans to increase the capacity to receive trains at Erlian station by 2030.

ULAN BATOR, September 14 - RIA Novosti. The Russian side has already carried out all the necessary measures to increase the volume of traffic on the Russian section from Ulan-Ude to the Naushki border station with Mongolia, said First Deputy General Director of Russian Railways OJSC Sergei Pavlov.

Pavlov spoke at the panel session “Transport connectivity and cross-border cooperation: the role of the regions of Mongolia and Russia in the development of Eurasian transport corridors” of the second Forum of Regions of Russia and Mongolia, which takes place in Ulaanbaatar on September 14-15. The first forum took place in Irkutsk on December 1-2, 2025.

“If we talk about the section of the Russian side, then we have completed measures to lengthen the tracks of the reception and departure park, reconstruct the complex at the Naushki station, and have also completed all measures to increase the volume of traffic in the section from Ulan-Ude to (the border point - ed.) Naushki,” he said.

The Russian side has already spent about $40 million for these purposes, Pavlov clarified. The Chinese side is also increasing its production capacity: by 2030, it will increase the capacity to receive both transit container trains and trains with export cargo from Mongolia at the Erlian station, he added.
