National Civil Defense releases R$1.5 million to aid Curuá and Jacareacanga after rains and fires

The National Civil Defense authorized the transfer of more than R$1.5 million to Curuá, in the Lower Amazon, and Jacareacanga, in the southwest of Pará. The municipalities were affected by intense rains and forest fires, respectively, and had an emergency situation recognized by the federal government.

Jacareacanga will receive R$828,364.80 for actions related to the impacts of forest fires. The release was authorized by the National Civil Defense on September 17 and published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU).

Curuá will have R$ 729,998.75 for recovery actions after the damage caused by intense rains. The authorization is part of a federal transfer announced this Wednesday (23) for nine municipalities in six states hit by disasters.

Combined, the amounts allocated to the two cities in Pará reach R$ 1,558,363.55.

Resources are not automatically released after an emergency situation. Municipalities need to present a work plan to the Ministry of Integration and Regional Development (MIDR) detailing the necessary actions and the amounts requested.

The request is made through the Integrated Disaster Information System (S2iD). After analysis and approval by the National Civil Defense, the federal government publishes in the Official Gazette of the Union the ordinance authorizing the transfer.
