Convicted of transmitting HIV to his then-girlfriend in Porto Velho, Jean José Dunga de Oliveira, 41, is also a defendant in another criminal action involving three women. The case includes accusations of very serious bodily injury, danger of contagion of a serious disease and, in two cases, rape.
In the case already judged, Jean was sentenced to five years in semi-open prison and the payment of R$50,000 in compensation to the victim. The second criminal action, which brings together complaints from three other women, is still being processed in court. All cases are confidential to protect the identity of the victims.
According to professional CVs available on the internet, Jean presents himself as a dental surgeon specializing in implant dentistry.
Jean was arrested in June 2026, after being reported by four separate victims. According to the Public Ministry of Rondônia (MP-RO), the arrest request was made because it was evident that, despite responding to criminal action, the man continued to transmit the virus to other women.

➡️The investigations against the defendant were born from the receptions made in the rooms of the Victim Assistance Center (Navit) of the MP-RO.
According to the agency, the first complaint was made on December 4, 2025. The woman reported that she suffered sexual violence and later discovered that she was infected with HIV. The second victim was interviewed six days later, reporting the same crime.
In January 2026, the third person was referred to Navit through the Specialized Care Service (SAE), a unit located in Porto Velho that offers testing and treatment for people living with HIV and AIDS.
🔎HIV is the Human Immunodeficiency Virus. It invades and weakens the immune system, which protects the body against disease. If there is no treatment, it can cause AIDS (term for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, in English).
The cases of the first three victims resulted in a single process. Jean was reported to court for very serious bodily injury and danger of contagion of a serious illness. In relation to two of the women, he was also accused of rape.

Even responding to this criminal action, Jean started dating Marta*. According to her report, they stayed together for about a month, until she noticed symptoms and discovered that she had also been infected. In search of assistance and justice, the victim went to Navit on May 28th.
"I was infected intentionally, that is, criminally, by a person who had enjoyed all the privacy of my home and family and who knew all my comorbidities and emotional problems", he laments.
*To protect the identity of the victim, who fears social stigma and exposure for her family, she is identified in this report by the fictitious name Marta. The identity of the accused is real.
Marta's case resulted in a second lawsuit against Jean. Her reports were essential for him to be arrested in June and convicted on August 24 for bodily harm.
The case involving the other three victims is still ongoing in the 1st Court of Domestic and Family Violence against Women of the Court of Justice of Rondônia (TJ-RO).
Although he was already serving a sentence in a semi-open regime for the conviction related to Marta, the MP-RO requested a new preventive detention this week, alleging an imminent risk of new contamination if he remained in the semi-open regime. On Wednesday (9), the accused was arrested again.
The MP-RO's complaint against Jean points out that he has been aware of his own diagnosis for around 10 years and chose not to adhere to antiretroviral treatment. According to the MP-RO, the suspicion is that the man did not want to undergo treatment precisely to transmit the virus to the people he interacted with.
