Negotiations between Russian and German foreign ministers Sergei Lavrov and Johann Wadeful demonstrated the presence of a “huge gap” in the positions of the parties. A representative of the German Foreign Ministry reported this, Reuters reports.

“Our positions, of course, differ radically - and this has again become obvious,” said the head of the German Foreign Ministry following negotiations with Lavrov.

Earlier, the press secretary of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, said that the meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia and Germany was a positive fact, but it would be a mistake to talk about changes in relations between the two countries. The Kremlin representative recalled Lavrov’s words that during the meeting with Vadeful he “didn’t hear anything new.”
