The South Korean Foreign Ministry called in the acting Ambassador of Ukraine because of data on prisoners from the DPRK

The South Korean Foreign Ministry summoned the acting Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic Andrey Veshkin after Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky disclosed information about the transfer of two North Korean prisoners of war. Yonhap agency reports this.

“First Deputy Foreign Minister Park Young-ju conveyed to Veshkin Seoul’s tough position on this issue,” the South Korean Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Seoul expressed concern that Kyiv disclosed information about the transfer of prisoners of war, despite an earlier agreement on confidentiality.

Earlier, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung criticized Ukraine for disclosing information about the transfer of military personnel from the DPRK to Seoul. According to him, the parties agreed to keep the fact of the transfer of prisoners secret.
