Residents had access this Saturday (13) to health services, professional guidance and leisure activities during the second edition of the "Cathedral Portas Abertas" project, promoted by Faculdade Cathedral.
The event offered medical consultations, dental care, physiotherapy, psychological and legal guidance, as well as workshops and recreational activities. Among the attractions that most caught the public's attention was one of the hits of the moment among children (and also many adults): the exchange of stickers from the 2026 World Cup album.
With the action, the college aims to bring the institution closer to the community and provide students from different courses with contact with the situations and demands of the profession they intend to pursue.
"We are very happy with what is happening. The services flowed smoothly. All the people who came had access to the services offered, such as consultations with doctors and dentists, as well as consultations with physiotherapists, pharmacists and lawyers. The children who came with their parents also participate in recreational activities", summarized the academic director of Faculdade Cathedral, Brena Lage.
'We were very well looked after'
Pedagogy teacher Suelen Costa and her husband, painter Ivanildo da Costa Santos, took her parents to an ophthalmological appointment. During the action, they discovered that they had vacancies for other services and also got a password.
Suelen took advantage of the action to see a gynecologist, received a referral for exams and participated in a workshop on CV development promoted by the Psychology team. Ivanildo already got a password for ophthalmological care.
"It had been a long time since I had an appointment with a gynecologist through the health center. I received very good care, I was referred for exams and I will continue with the care," said Suelen.
"We received very good care. Now I'm going to see the ophthalmologist", added Ivanildo. The couple lives in the São Bento neighborhood, West Zone, and found out about the action on social media.
Family outing
Between consultations and guidance, domestic worker Rosângela de Souza turned Saturday into a day of family health care. Alongside her daughter, Brenda Beatriz Souza, and two nephews aged 9 and 11, she took advantage of the dental care and guidance offered by the action through the Dentistry Clinic at Faculdade Cathedral.
"I wanted to go to the dentist a few days ago, so I took advantage of this action today", said Rosângela. "I brought the children and they are enjoying it a lot. They attended lectures on tooth care and received an oral health kit. Very cool", summarized Brenda.
In the dentistry sector, in addition to the services offered during the action, some patients will be able to continue their follow-up at the college clinic.
According to the coordinator of the Dentistry course, Wanessa Cruz, the services provided during the event serve as a gateway to treatments that require more than one consultation.
"If we identify the need to continue treatment, we make an appointment for the patient to continue the care here at the clinic", he explained.
The dental clinic has vacancies for procedures such as extractions, restorations, cleanings and child care. There was also distribution of oral hygiene kits and guidance on disease prevention.
Physiotherapy
In the area of physiotherapy, students underwent treatments supervised by teachers. Among the services offered were cupping therapy, myofascial release, massage therapy and guidance on caring for muscle and joint pain.
"Students have contact with patients since the first semesters and begin to understand professional responsibility and the reality of serving the population", stated the coordinator of the Physiotherapy course, Thiago Silva. "The action also contributes to the training of academics", he reinforced.
Exchange of World Cup stickers
One of the activities that caught the public's attention the most was the sticker exchange room for the 2026 World Cup album. The initiative was organized by physical education students. It brought together children, teenagers and adults.
The coordinator of the initiative, professor João Vitor Alecrim, the proposal sought to encourage coexistence between different generations.
"Exchanging stickers promotes interaction, socialization and creates memories. Many people arrived saying that they also exchanged stickers when they were children," he said.
Psychology student Giuliane Pereira Inácio took her daughter, Lívia, aged 9, and the girl's friend to exchange stickers
"I came to participate in Cathedral Open Doors to work on the Psychology course activities, and also to bring my daughter and her friend to exchange stickers. They participated in various activities, such as game workshops, lectures on vocal hygiene, applying fluoride and making masks", he said.
